Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara is an Emmy-nominated American-Colombian actress who is best known for her role as Gloria Pritchett on ABC’s hit TV show, Modern Family. Sofia was born on July 10, 1972, in Barranquilla, Colombia, where she was raised to her teenage years. She was discovered as a teen by a photographer who opened doors for her to feature in Pepsi commercials for the Latina markets, then later starred in a Mexican telenovela.

Vergara relocated to the US in the mid-1990s where she went on to become a Univision TV personality hosting various shows. Vergara made her film debut in 2o02 in the film Big Trouble then went on to make appearances in Chasing Papi, Meet the Browns, and Madea Goes to Jail.

Vergara’s landed her most significant role yet in 2009 playing as a sexy and assertive Gloria on Modern Family. The show was an instant hit and has earned her four consecutive Emmy and Golden Globe awards.

Vergara has made appearances in other more recent films including Hot Pursuit, Chef and Fading Gigolo. She was also a voice actor in Happy Feet Two, The Smurfs, and The Emoji Movie.
